About Jefferson Historical Society

The Jefferson Historical Society

Located in the town of Jefferson of Coos County New Hampshire.

We are a 501C non-profit organization.

The purpose of the society is to bring together those people interested in history, and especially in the history of Jefferson, New Hampshire and its role within the surrounding region of northern New Hampshire.

The society’s major function is to discover and collect any material which may help to establish or illustrate the history of the area.

The society provides for the preservation of such material and for its accessibility, as feasible, to all who wish to examine or study it.

The Jefferson Historical Museum preserves a collection of artifacts representing a timeline of life in Jefferson, New Hampshire and living in rural northern New England.

In addition to artifacts on display, there are exhibits of notable events and people who influenced the town’s history.

We look forward to your visit next time you’re in Jefferson!

The museum is located at 900 Presidential Highway (Rt.2) in the historic (1868) St. John’s United Methodist Church building. Next to the Waumbek Golf Course.
